Research Specialisms

My principal areas of research are French Film Studies and French Cultural Studies. My approach is interdisciplinary, cross-fertilising between film studies, critical theory, television studies, video practice and cultural studies. Thus in terms of French Film Studies, in particular, my approach is influenced by history and political culture, psychoanalysis, gender studies, structuralism, post-structuralism, post-modernism and post-colonial studies and informs my work on questions of National Cinema, textual and contextual analyses of films, film stars, film periods.
