Overview
This MA introduces a diverse and intellectually challenging range of topics, materials and critical approaches pertinent to the study of Sexuality and Gender. Students will place and understand ideas and discourses in their historical and cultural contexts and develop critical and analytical skills by studying the theoretical material presented on the core module and investigating texts and cultural products on the optional modules. The programme examines constructions and representations of sexuality and gender in sexology, psychoanalysis, feminist thought, activist writings, literary texts, filmic products and other image-based cultural products.

12 months full-time; 24 months part-time.
Entry requirements
A good Second Class Honours degree (2:1) or equivalent in Modern Languages, Humanities or Social Sciences.
Course Information
The programme, worth 180 credits in total, consists of two core modules, each worth 30 credits, two optional modules, each worth 30 credits, and a dissertation worth 60 credits.

Overview
The Master of Research programme is designed for students who wish to carry out a one-year programme of research in Sexuality and Gender Studies. They will work under the direction of an academic supervisor from the Centre for the Interdisciplinary Study of Sexuality and Gender in Europe. The programme offers students the opportunity to develop advanced research skills in their chosen field of enquiry and is particularly suited to those preparing to undertake doctoral research, although it may also be pursued as a self-contained qualification.
